The Cheesehead Challenge

The Cheesehead Challenge Championship is the premiere karting event to promote the best racers in Wisconsin. There are other Wisconsin karting events, but only a Cheesehead Challenge Champion can truly claim to be a Wisconsin State Champion. Rules

Purpose and Intent

The Cheesehead Challenge Championship ("Series") provides a racing platform for kart racers seeking affordable regional racing within the state of Wisconsin and also is the series that crowns the Wisconsin State Champion in 2 and 4-cycle karting classe. The Series is a limited racing series of four (4) events over (2) two weekends for the 2023 competition season.

Rules to Be Used

Rules are used in the following order: rules posted here on the Series website, the Badger Kart Club (BKC) Rule Book, and the World Karting Association (WKA) Technical Manual. These rules supersede rules published in the BKC rule book.

Race Day Procedures

Drivers will follow a race-day schedule that will be published prior to each event. For 2023, each race day will be composed of two rounds of practice per day, two heats, and a final or feature event. Karts will be gridded in the first heat by fastest time set in final practice. Karts will be gridded in heat two and the feature by their finishing position in the previous event. In other words, each event progresses into the next. Races will be in a time plus two laps format, for example, "12 minutes plus 2 laps." After the time has elapsed, the leader will be shown two laps to go by two flags held vertically by the flag person, followed by the white flag on the next lap.

New Racers

The Series welcomes racers new to karting. Those new to karting should follow the procedures for new racers at the host club. Typically, this means placing an "X" on the rear bumper and starting at the rear of the field for a minimum of three races.

Kart and Sponsor Identification

Series participants are requried to display the current year Series decal on the front of their kart.
